Curtis Borchardt's hustle led the Jazz to a 60-52 win against the
Indiana Pacers Saturday night at the Rocky Mountain Revue. Curtis
ended the game with twelve points on 6 of 9 shooting. He also
contributed ten rebounds, three steals, and three blocks. The Jazz
were led in scoring by point guard Raul Lopez with fourteen points
on 3 of 7 shooting from the field.
The Jazz shot a measly 27.3% in the first half compared to 38.1% for
the Pacers, yet held the lead at the break, 29-22. There was a short
interruption during the game when the electricity went out due to a
storm in the area. Once the lights were back on, Indiana fought
their way to a tie with Utah at 47-47 with four minutes left in the
game. The Jazz, however, closed out this game, unlike Friday night,
with a 9-0 run in the next two minutes.
Both Snyder and Humphries had rough nights. Kris Humphries sat out
the second half with a sprained ankle but is expected to be playing
again by the end of the Review. Kirk Snyder was 0 for 7 in the first
half with two points and two turnovers, but came on in the last
minutes scoring four points in the final Jazz run. He ended the game
with eight points on 3 of 15 shooting.
The Jazz outscored the Pacers 14-7 on second chance points and
created 29 turnovers that resulted in
25 points for the Jazz. The team has a break on Sunday and
will play Denver Monday at 8:00 MST. The game will be televised on NBATV and KJZZ.
